I got some of the best news of possibly my life a few days ago. I’M GOING TO CATALYST. I had to refrain from adding multiple exclamation points to the title of this post. Yeah. This is serious business.
I’ve been a part of this community for five years. Each year, sexuality conferences come and go. Flurries of tweets clog my feed. Enthusiastic posts pop up in Google Reader. Jealousy consumes my soul. And I think to myself, “maybe next year.”
2013 is finally the year.
At my “day job” — I guess you’d call it that if you didn’t know how late I stay up at night — I’m a writer, social media person, and online store product adder for a local sex shop. It is thanks to their incredible generosity that I will be going to Catalyst, so everyone give them a round of applause (or better yet, buy something from them — these handmade toy bags are adorable). I really cannot thank them enough.
Catalyst’s sessions and workshops look amazing as always, but I’m also really excited to meet people I’ve previously only known online: bloggers such as Dangerous Lilly, Lorax of Sex, the Evil Sluts, Joan Price, Insane Hussein, Sarah of Marvelous Darling, and many more I’m sure. Plus the people who make and sell the sex toys I love: Metis of Tantus, Laura of Tool Shed, and Jennifer of The Smitten Kitten. I don’t know if Greg from njoy will be there, but if he is, I would like to shake that man’s hand.
I’m flying in on Thursday, March 14th so I’ll be well-rested for Tristan Taormino’s Sex Educator Boot Camp on Friday. This also means I will have a whole extra night if anyone else is arriving early and wants to grab a drink, make a fort, or binge on reality TV with me.
Tell me, are you going? Are you pumped?! If not, there’s still time to register, snag a flight, and get your butt to D.C. You can even use coupon code EPIPHORA to get $10 off your regular registration!
