Our aim with this scholarship is to amplify the voices of people who have, in the past, been under-represented in sex blogging. We want to combat the notion that sex blogging is only accessible to white, affluent, able-bodied cis people. The scholarship is open to all, but priority will be given to candidates with financial need as well as intersecting and marginalized identities (e.g. people of color, disabled folks, and gender and sexual minorities).
Whether you’re already blogging or hoping to start, our group class offers six intensive weeks of structured learning and peer camaraderie and support, with in-depth lessons about all aspects of being a sex blogger: site set-up, niche carving, content creation, monetization, social media mastery, and more. Originally setting out to secure one, maybe two scholarship sponsors for the class, we never could have anticipated the generosity of Early to Bed, Fuze, We-Vibe, Dame, Crystal Delights, and OhMiBod, who each agreed to sponsor a student.
Not only do these companies believe strongly in diversity within the sex blogging community, they also value JoEllen’s and my work. Here’s a bit about each of them.
Early to Bed: An indie sex shop in Chicago run by one of the sweetest people we know. They were one of the very first shops to earn a spot on JoEllen’s Superhero Sex Shop list.
Fuze: A Canadian sex toy manufacturer who deals primarily in silicone dildos and butt plugs. Known for sleek toys — some with innovative, curved bases for comfortable harness use.
Dame: You may be surprised by Dame’s inclusion on this list, since I had some choice words for their Eva vibrator, but the company has been 100% on board with this endeavor!
Hope to join us this fall for a month and a half of sex blogging boot camp? Applying for the scholarship is simple: in 300 words or less, please tell us about yourself and why you want to be a sex blogger (or why you are one already). What’s your story? What drives you? What do you hope to accomplish?
